Look, I get it. You only want what’s best for your babies. You want to buy them the best baby stroller, the most durable car seat, the most comfortable crib, and an enjoyable bath time experience with a good baby bathtub.
But, with so many different options out there, it could easily overwhelm any parent- with experience or not.
So today, I am going to be handing out some tips to help you choose the best baby care products out there on the market.
Consult with Their Pediatrician
Before you buy anything for your baby, it is important that you consult with their pediatrician first. This is especially true if you are going to buy bath soaps, shampoos, or anything that can be put on their delicate bodies.
Just do not ask your doctor for specific brand recommendations as they are not keen on telling you these things.
For example, if you ask them about the best baby formulas, you’re most likely going to get an answer, something to the extent of, “breastmilk is best for babies.”
Research on Possible Risks
Every baby product out there could be a potential risk, but there are some that are completely risk-free. For instance, if you are going to buy plastic milk bottles, always get one that is BPA-free.
For those of you who do not know, plastic baby bottles were notorious for leaching chemicals before. But, getting a BPA-free product ensures that that will never happen.
Baby soaps can also be a target for many chemicals as well That is why it is recommended that you get the organic options so that you are assured that your baby’s delicate skin will be protected and kept clean after bathing.
Choose Non-Abrasive Bath Products
I always wash with a bath scrub, but my adult body can handle the somewhat abrasive texture of the thing. However, babies do not have the rigidity that adult skin has.
It is important that you buy baby bath products that are safe for them to use. Always keep in mind that their bodies are delicate and could easily get damaged when they come into contact with something that is abrasive in nature.
So, if you are choosing a washcloth, for example, choose one that is made of cotton so that it will be soft to the touch and are appropriate to use for baby’s skin.
Babies can soil their diapers a lot in a day. In fact, the average diaper change ranges from 6-10 times per day. That being said, if you are going to buy disposable diapers, make sure that you buy one that is biodegradable and has the mechanisms that can help absorb the liquid that they excrete (to avoid rashes and skin allergies).
At some point, your baby would begin teething which means that you should support them by buying some chew toys.
You should know by now that you must get one that is chemical-free and are made of non-toxic materials.
Most feeding bowls and utensils should be made of non-toxic plastic so that there will be no chance for them to get injured by using them.
